Leather is naturally a durable and flexible material created by tanning animal, rawhides and skins. The most common raw material is cattle hide. It can be manufactured at manufacturing scales ranging from artisan to up-to-the-minute industrial scale.

Leather is used to make a diverse kind of materials and articles, including footwear, automobile seats, clothing, bags, book bindings, fashion accessories, and furniture. It is produced in a wide variety of types and styles and decorated by a wide range of techniques.

Artificial leather also known as faux leather is a type of material proposed to substitute real leather in upholstery, clothing, footwear, handbags and other uses where a leather-like finish is preferred but the real & genuine material is cost-exorbitant or unsuitable.  Artificial premium faux leather is promoted under names, including "leatherette", "faux leather", "vegan leather", "PU leather" and "pleather”.

Premium Faux leather is among the numerous names given to artificial or synthetic leather. These names are often used to describe specific end uses of synthetic leather products such as faux leather handbags (sofa, chair and headboard upholstery), leatherette (auto upholstery, clothing), and kidskin (consumer goods). There are two main types of faux leather construction: polyurethane (“PU”), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC – “Vinyl”).

Premium faux leather is usually much more reasonable than real leather. Faux leather is very resilient and lasts for a long time. It can endure scratches and scrapes that would blemish genuine leather. It is not prone to crack or peel like leather. It will not fade as easily in ultra violet (UV) light and is stain resistant.

Faux leather handbags can usually be wiped clean with a rag and warm water. Nothing like genuine leather, it has tendency not to retain moisture, so faux leather items will not become warped or cracked. Some of the new performance faux leathers can remove ink, liquid and food stains with only a dry cloth.

Faux leather handbags have been altered and improved with variations in grain, color and textures to reflect a visual appearance with a realistic leather quality.

Consistency in Appearance – Faux leather will provide you a uniform look since every bit of material used come from the same stock.
Fashion - Faux leather handbags can now also be printed providing enormous variety of textures and patterns. Furthermore, because faux leather is a synthetic material, it can be dyed like a rainbow of colors.

This fashion forward methodology allows for more freedom when decorating residential or commercial interiors.
Faux leather can easily be cut and sew than a real leather. Additionally, needle marks are commonly less noticeable and threads blend with the faux leather material more impeccably.

Faux Leather does have some cons in comparison to real leather. Faux leather does not show rigidity, breathe or wear like leather. Faux leather is very sturdy, durable and strong; however, it does not develop the same luster and patina over time as leather. Faux leather does not pinhole or tear resistant like real leather.
